    In header.php, change this:

    DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">

    to this:

    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">

Are you sure that’s where I look? Can’t find that string in header.php.

That’s where it should be. Right at the top. Very first line.

Then you may have to look in all your theme files to find it. Some themes have DOCTYPE code in almost every theme file (index.php, single.php, etc.).

Many thanks. It was in index.php — and now is fixed.
