Getting rid of old post

My site is http://webspeakezine.com
It opens directly to the blog.
I would like to take the post that appear on the page off of the site. I am not able to because there is nothing in my all posts on the dashboard for my site that will allow me to do this. These posts seem to be permanent. I just want to get rid of them.

I am not sure of which version of WordPress I am using. How do I find that out?
