Getting Google to validate my site

I’ve been having a devil of a time getting Google to validate that I own my website, and have decided to try one of their secondary methods: adding a meta tag to the site’s home page.

To do this, I need to get to the HTML for the home page and, I confess, I’m at a complete loss on how to do that. I’ve looked everywhere that I could think and cannot seem to get to the home page HTML.

So, I put it to the brilliant minds here: how do I get to the home page HTML so that I can paste in the meta tag from Google, so that they can verify that I own my site, so that I can get my e-mail up and running and start getting some real work done.
