Would anyone know what I could do to obtain the newest category created in a subcategory?

I have *one* parent category that will have many children. I can’t seem to figure out how to capture the “newest child” created to the parent category. (I also want to have the query ignore the grandchildren of said parent category – I’m just looking o grab the newest *child* only.)

If anyone would have any ideas on how to do this, I’d appreciate it 🙂

Crap, I reread that, I know it sounds stupid, because WP will actually get the newest one for you already. but my issue is this: I’m trying to show the newest category only (link and description) on the home page. The “newest category” I want to show will be an immediate child of a particular parent category. (I’d like to be able to have the ability to create *other* categories as needed – it’s just this one set of children that I want to show) – but I just can’t quite grasp how to do this.

Man, I know it sounds dumb, but truly – if anyone can point me in the right direction, I’d appreciate it.

Holy crap, I’m a complete idiot. Nevermind – I was *really* stupid. All I needed to do was move something up one level. Duh. (Long story.)
