Generate thumbnails from my posts for sidebar

    Hey guys, I can’t figure this one out for the life of me.

    All my blog posts contain embedded youtube videos, nothing else, I have the generic “recent posts” widget on my sidebar listing the most recent videos, just the titles as per default. All I want to do is incorporate thumbnails from my youtube videos into the widget (or a new widget that works the same, whatever works). The default youtube thumbnails for the uploaded videos on youtube would be fine such as this: “http://img.youtube.com/vi/-9wgzUSsE_Y/default.jpg” as I’m sure you know the “-9wgzUSsE_Y” bit of that link is the video ID.

    I would prefer coding it into my theme rather then using a plugin, but if that is not an option I don’t mind.
