General Backup Question

    Today I downloaded the files from GoDaddy for a small site. I used Filezilla. I highlighted 7 directories and 21 files. When it finished downloading I was surprised to see there were about 12000 files in about 900 directories. Is this a typical number of files and directories for a small site (4 pages)? Thanks.

    It depends on the theme(s) and plugins you have installed and whether you do caching and backup the cache, but yeah, 12K files is not atypical. The number of files is not really related to your content or number of pages, other than the content of wp-content/uploads.

    Remember that if you’re backing up your site, you need to backup the database, too.
