When I try to edit a gallery created before upgrading to 3.9.1, I get the result shown here:
    http://helpcollin.com/Capture.PNG

I have tried enabling 3rd party cookies, deleting cache, temporarily disabling all plugins, etc.

There are no javascript errors on the page.

I am using Chrome 35, but it doesn’t work in Firefox either.

What else can I try? The only way to edit the gallery is via entering the image number at this point in the text tab.

  • Have you tried switching to one of the WordPress default themes like Twenty Thirteen to see if it’s a theme issue?

No, but I don’t know why that would do anything since the problem is in the editor, not the actual site… and I don’t want to mess up the site.

Some plugins and themes can be the problem.
It makes sense to make the development copy and test all possible reasons.

Themes dictate what UI elements and CSS are used on the admin side too, including the editor, sometimes. If your theme is causing a problem, it would explain why you were okay until you updated WP. Just something additional to rule out before you start pulling your hair out.

Thanks for the info. I created a quickie test site and added my old theme files to it and that indeed was the issue. Thanks much!
