Try re-uploading the wp-admin folder.

Hi,
Check with these options:
– Assign 766 recursive permissions to wp-contents folder
– Disable all other plugins and have a check with this gallery plugin..after that enable plugin one by one to find out the culprit..

kichu, I just uploaded the wp-admin folder again but still no Gallery tab in the upload media window…
Shane, I haven’t installed a single plugin yet, this is a brand new WordPress installation. The gallery function I am refering to should be build into WordPress, it’s not a plugin.
The “Gallery” tab comes on after you finish uploading an image file using the “Add an image” popup above the edit box.
What are the tabs that you see on the image uploader box?

That is exactly how I uplopad images. But even after uploading images, all the tabs I see are:
* From Computer
* From URL
* Media Library
No idea what is going on here. I just installed WP 2.8.2 in a different folder on the server using a different database and the Gallery tab still does not show up.
Baffles me.
But you may try these things:
1. Write something and save the post first as a draft and then try uploading images
2. Try in a different browser.

Same problem here ….
I’ve tried the save as draft recommendation as well as both FF and IE. Still no gallery tab option.
Gosh, I picked the wrong week to want to install a slide show. 🙂
Anyone have any other ideas?
Hmmmm…. seems odd but it looks like I have to actually insert the image into the page (as a picture) before I get the option of the image gallery tab.
Still tweaking.

CoolKarma is right, you have to actually insert the first image into a post and then click on the media uploader again. Otherwise the Gallery tab won’t show up. Thanks for the tip!
Just tested it on my site. Just wrote the title and nothing on the write pane. Invoked the “Add an image” panel. Uploaded an image. No Gallery. closed it. Meanwhile “autosave” has happened – the title saved. Again clicked on “Add an image”. Uploaded an image – Pop came the “Gallery (1)”. No insertion into the post before that!
Dunno why it behaves differently to you folks!

I continue to have this issue. Have noted that I get an error on page – maybe somebody can help with an explanation?
