I’m having the exact same issue. I’d love to find out what the change is, as I have a lot of other sites that will be affected.
It seems to work okay if the version of NextGen is 2.0.66.27 with WordOress 3.9.2, but if the site is updated to WP 4.0, that’s when the vertical issue appears.

I have the exact same problem. I don’t understand why, it’s very frustrating.
@rosebud982 – Something appears to be stopping NextGEN Gallery from using its JavaScript and CSS to render the display properly. Have you tried temporarily switching to a default WordPress Twenty series theme? Did you check for conflicts with other active plugins?

I had NextGen Gallery Optimizer on this site and deactivating it, solved my problem. Thanks
@germars – Yes, that plugin is causing issues for NextGEN Gallery. I believe its author is also working on a new release to correct them.
