Gallery block and Image block

    At present, my site is not live and being built using Local and WordPress 7.0.4. I have a Gallery block with numerous images set for “Crop to Fit” for fitting to the website page. Some of those images are larger than the cropped image, so I have selected the Image block from the Dashboard > Appearance > Editor > Styles > Blocks > Image and turned on “Click to Expand”. After saving site changes when I go back to the Gallery and click on one of the images that was cropped to fit, it just shows in the lightbox the same as the cropped image and not a full size image. Can I have both? Do these 2 settings conflict with each other? Thanks.
