function “get_the_excerpt” breaking site

    When using the Events Calendar plugin and an excerpt is not added to an individual post, this function is breaking whenever there are double-quotation marks in the post’s main body text. It causes the “description” meta tag to break, and then shows the broken tag at the top of any post with this issue.

    This is either the theme or the plugin and not the excerpt, because output is supposed to be escaped so that quotes don’t affect it.
    If the plugin is creating the excerpt or outputting the content, ask in the plugin support forum. Otherwise, it’s the theme, and you would ask in the theme’s support forum.
