Full copy SQL and directories… And problems!

    Hello! We are migrating a website to another hosting company with a temporary domain name for installation.
    We made a full copy of the DB, full copies of /uploads, of /themes and /plugins
    In the DB we changed all occurrences of the “old” domain name to the “new” domain name before loading the file.

    So it is supposed to be a 100% copy, right?

    But no:

    1- Featured images do not show up on all articles.
    2- Menus locations are not restored, as the widgets usage.

    How if it possible, assuming we have a 100% copy of the DB?

    Any suggestion? Please do not recommend any “duplicate plugin”, we tried a lot already and none of them work anyway 100%. With access to DB in theory all should be in order…

    I add that we at first tried using the “export” and “import” integrated WP plugin, with the same result about the featured images. That is why we then used a DB copy, but it didn’t solve anything…

    How did you change the image references? If you did a search and replace on the exported text file, you likely broke things.

    Use a tool like the plugin “better search and replace” to make search/replace changes in the database. In fact, re-import the unchanged database *after* installing this script, then run the script per its instructions to do a search and replace on the site to which you have imported the db.

    Yes in fact we discovered this interconnectit script and the tech told me right now that it is ok! Thank you anyway for replying, hopefully it will help others 🙂
