FTP account issue

    Howdy,

    I would like to ask whether hosted free wordpress website has access to FTP information or not? If it does, can you help n’ link me to any helpful source so I could get access to FTP?.. I am about to install some plugin to back up my old database and other files from WP (version 3.6.1) but I need FTP info!

    There is no FTP access on free wordpress.com accounts. An explanation – https://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/

    That doesn’t sound like it would be hosted on wordpress.com. If you can mention your domain name or leave a link to your site, we might be able to point you in a better direction.

    Hi there again,

    I’ve found out I could use export function to export all my data from one to another blog. The question is: would it work on a WP hosted website?

    If it does I have an optional issue: I cannot find Export function on WP 3.6.1 ver. Can you help me, please?

    p.s I could use some export plugin instead, but in that case it asks me FTP username n’ password. I got stuck :S

    You could use a complete backup method – WordPress Backups – which would be good to do on a regular basis, or as you mention, a plugin could help: https://wordpress.org/plugins/search.php?type=term&q=export+wordpress

    For your FTP username and password, you can contact your hosts support staff and they will be able to help you set up an FTP user account for your site.
