I just went in to my FTP accounts and found a bialty@mydomain account and yesterday my whole website was deleted. I don’t know if the two are connected but I had know idea bialty had an FTP account I certainly didnt authorise or set it up, not to my knowledge anyway, unless it is part of the set up in the WP dashboard. I’ve deleted the account but can you confirm if the bialty FTP account is legit and supposed to be there or was my cpanel infiltrated because as I say yesterday my whole site was deleted from file manager, I was in the backend but I dont remember doing anything at all that could have deleted my website ?

    Hi,

Thank you for contacting our support.

About your situation,… we can tell for sure that:

The Bialty plugin is not able, in a way or another, to create FTP accounts
The Bialty plugin does not delete websites

About this part: “… infiltrated because as I say yesterday my whole site“, we have no records of any email coming from you mentioning this kind of situation..

So the question is, who did you talk to … “yesterday” ?

    Let us know

    Regards

Thanks for getting back to me and apologies for the delayed response but for some reason I didnt receive an email notification.

Anyway, I’m glad to hear there isnt supposed to be an FTP account as I was worried that it was supposed to be there after deleting it and wasnt sure if it was actually needed for Bialty to work.

    Ref your question

“About this part: “… infiltrated because as I say yesterday my whole site“, we have no records of any email coming from you mentioning this kind of situation..”

I didn’t say I spoke to anybody, “as I say” is just a term to say something that is of my opinion.

I still don’t know how my site was deleted but the fact there was a bialty FTP is certainly unexplainable however, I don’t believe it was due to Bialty. Thankfully after three days of tearing my hair out, I have everything back up and running, including Bialty.

I’ll mark this as resolved but feel free to come back to me with any other thoughts. Thanks again.
