• Trying to follow Craig’s How To list, and have come up with this annoying little bugger of an error:
    Parse error: parse error in /home2/spacey/public_html/wp-config.php on line 17
    My line 17 reads:
    $server = DB_HOST;
    And up in my definitions:
    define('DB_HOST', 'localhost');
    I get that on the /wp-admin/upgrade.php page each time. I’m not seeing the error — can anyone else?

  • the error may actually be on the line before. Try looking back a little bit, and make sure you don’t have any missing quotes or semicolons.

    The line before reads:
    $table_prefix = 'b2' // example: 'wp_' or 'b2' or 'mylogin_'
    Earlier there *had* been a problem on that line (I’d accidentally put in a double-quote instead of a single-quote), but it’s all fixed now. Here’s the entire file, minus the php tags at the top and bottom:
    /** WordPress's config file **/
    /** http://wordpress.org/ **/
    // ** MySQL settings ** //
    define('DB_NAME', 'spacey_b2b'); // The name of the database
    define('DB_USER', 'spacey_katie'); // Your MySQL username
    define('DB_PASSWORD', 'password'); // ...and password
    define('DB_HOST', 'localhost'); // 99% chance you won't need to change this value
    // Change the prefix if you want to have multiple blogs in a single database.
    $table_prefix = 'b2' // example: 'wp_' or 'b2' or 'mylogin_'
    /* Stop editing */
    $server = DB_HOST;
    $loginsql = DB_USER;
    $passsql = DB_PASSWORD;
    $base = DB_NAME;
    define('ABSPATH', dirname(__FILE__).'/');
    // Get everything else
    require_once(ABSPATH.'wp-settings.php');
