• My first time using Customiser and was getting on fine but, for no obvious reason, the soldier has started misbehaving. The height changed without me asking it to. I then seemingly corrected it but one of the 3 images in it is a different height to the rest. Plus the text box has slipped below the picture and a large gap has arisen between the slider and the Featured Images below.
    Thanks for your advice.

Link is attached. I have now disabled the Featured Page facility but you will see there is still a large gap to the Home page Text.
    thanks

    Mmm
You have increased the slider’s height to 1200px.
    I tell you what happens.
You’re using photon (jetpack). Your original image is 2448×3264… photon tries to produce an image with height 1200px (you chose that height of 1200px), produces this jpg -> http://i2.wp.com/alanmansfield52.ipage.com/DDG/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/IMG_0958.jpg?resize=2448%2C1200
as you can see it’s 2448×1200.
But I assume your monitor is narrower than 2448px so let’s say is 1300px.
The full-slider img has css width=100% this means that it must have the same width of the window, in our hypothesis => 1300px. Aspect ratio is preserved so => 1200/2448 * 1300 = 637px => displayed height. But the slides container has an height of 1200px => BIG GAP
If you enlarge the window to reach 2448px you will not see the gap.
So.. don’t use photon, and use images of 1200px height, and if you use the centering slider’s slides feature (customizr feature under Responsive settings), you should not see the gap.
But are you sure you want a slider of that height?
    Hope this could help.

Thanks. I’d started with a height of 700 which was fine till it suddenly stopped being fine so i experimented. I think I follow what you say but before I try it can I just clarify something – I do have Jetpack but have used the built-in slider for the Front page. Does jetpack somehow have an effect on the built-in slider ? Do I need to remove Jetpack and use other plug ins for its facilities such as Contact Form ?
The slider height I’m looking for is about half to 2/3 of the screen.
This is a great forum and I really appreciate your help. I will be making a donation once I get everything up and running.
