What Page did you select in the pulldown the Front page?
Administration > Settings > Reading
If you continue this thread, please provide a link and tell us the page you are using for the “Posts page” and the page your are using for the “Front page”.

I also notice in regard to this same subject that after WP 2.7 updates when setting the pages the URL doesn’t seem to work like it should. A single should go to /blog/post but although /blog/ works as a url any posts you click on goes to /post/ without the /blog/ before hand.
Front page displays
Your latest posts
A static page (select below)
* Front page: Home (home.tpl.php)
* Posts page: Blog (blog.tpl.php)
mauma – add a new Page called News then add a new Page called Front.
In Settings->Reading select News for your Posts page
In Settings->Reading select Front for your Front page

ok thanks at all.
i found the error, is a conflict with the plug-in “qtranslate” i found the topics in the support forum plug-in : http://www.qianqin.de/qtranslate/forum/viewtopic.phpf=3&t=441&p=2020&hilit=Front+page+displays#p2020
