• I made the mistake of using WordPress MU, thinking that it would be of benefit to me in the long run. It’s turning out that the installation is causing more problems than it’s worth. I now feel that it was probably a much better idea to have installed the stand alone program instead.

The progam is installed on my http://toranshaw.com domain, with my main blog being at http://toranshaw.com/toranika. Does anyone know of anyway in which I can safely delete MU from my domain and install WP 2.7 onto http://toranshaw.com/toranika and keeping the current posts?

I do hope that someone can help, for it’s starting to get very annoying. I have “searched” for the answer, but it’s mostly about importing from WP.com and blogspot.

  • Export the current posts in your MU blog using Tools->Export then delete the MU files, install WordPress, then in the new blog, do Tools->Import->WordPress.

Thank you for that @michaelh, I shall give that a whirl to see how it goes. It’s good to know that I won’t loose any posts.

I was wondering. I have some very old WP blogs that I haven’t updated for quite some time. Can I use this Import feature (when I’ve installed the new WP blog) so that I can have those posts merged into the one blog and keeping their original dates, etc..?

Assuming you can Export the blogs, then you should be able to import them.
