Hello, just a quick check whether any time after upgrading from free to paid, am I able to move existing media files (not posts, not pages) into subfolders, and these do no mess with individual posts containing such images where I am linking to image URLs. As far as I see it, these are always filed within the monthly batch media structure, and thus linking would work, and remain unaffected by a move to subfolders structure. Please confirm. Thank you

Hi @monica5 , thanks for posting your query. Folders uses virtual folders, which means moving media files into folders does not physically change their location on your server. Your images will remain in the default WordPress monthly upload structure, such as /wp-content/uploads/2026/02/.

So if you move existing media into subfolders inside Folders, it will not affect image URLs and it will not break any posts or pages where those images are being used.

Everything will continue working exactly as before. The folders are only for better organization inside your WordPress dashboard. Please let me know if you have any further questions. 😊
