If you are copying already formatted text from chats, or even Microsoft Word into your new post using the Rich Text, it will try to show up with the formatted text.
To not get that problem, you need to click on the HTML tab and enter your text.
Ok, I get that. However I used to have a toolbox with options to format the posts without doing html. Now I only have bold, underline, and link options.
There should be 2 tabs – Visual and HTML
Visual is the one with more formatting options. HTML has less. When you paste formatted text into the HTML… you will remove that other formatting and you can switch back over to Visual and format it the way you want to. 🙂
Another suggestion – paste to a NotePad file first, and then you can paste into Visual.
Thanks for the info. It seems to be a problem with just this one blog. I opened up another blog I have and I can see the visual formatting but when I open the ones I am having problems with it does not show the visual options.
I have been having alot of issues with this blog and I don’t know if its the 2.92 release causing the problems or something else.
Could be the theme itself… depending on how it was coded.
Otherwise, if it is the backend… I would say you can go in and hit the automatically upgrade in your WordPress admin panel to hopefully fix the issue.
I tried the upgrade last week to no avail as I am still having the issues. I will try and update the theme and if that doesn’t work I guess I will be re-installing.
Make sure visual editor is not disabled under Users > Your Profile.
I know I’m late to the party, but I had the same issue, and I just figured it out. One of the icons on that first line will actually expand your options to include more formatting options. Those options remain hidden unless you click it.
