    Hi there,

    We have been running a site that has been open to all users for a number of years, hence we have a few thousand users in the system.

    We have just opened up a trade section and want to find a way that users can apply to ‘upgrade’ their membership to a higher tier.

    Currently, all users are just the default ‘Customer’
    We want to have a form they can fill in with business details and submit documentation to upgrade to the ‘Trade’ tier.

    When we create a register form, if the user is already in the system they get an error saying they have already registered.

    Is there a way we can generate a form to allow them to request to upgrade their membership? (we know the forms can allow documentation to be uploaded)
    If possible, can someone provide a guide on how to do this?

    @loopmail Are you looking to automatically update the user role or you are planning to manually review the request and manually update the user role?

    @aswingiri Ideally, we would want to approve the requests manually, we would need to check the trade documents provided.

    @loopmail What you are looking for is not really a feature of this plugin but looking at your requirement, I think any of the contact form plugins can do the job as the upgrade process is manual.

    If I were you, I would allow only logged-in users to send the upgrade request and grab their id in the hidden field so that it is easier to identify which account to upgrade.
