I just tried to replicate the problem you are seeing, and can not. I first enter an invalid address and a test message, push send and of course I get an error.
I then enter a valid email address, hit send and the message sends successfully.
Do you have a compelling reason for not upgrading your WordPress installation?
Currently everything seems to be working. The plugins & template are working. If I upgrade WordPress, then a plugin is not compatible. I am fairly new to web design, and so that is the reason why I am not in a rush to upgrade WordPress.
And, WilltheWebMechanic, Thank you for your help. I appreciate it.
Some hosts have very specific requirements which can effect significantly the To & From Email Addresses you can use with CF7.
For example the from and to, on a DreamHost server, have to be the same domain as what you’re hosted on – see http://www.dreamhoststatus.com/2012/04/04/improvements-to-outgoing-spam-prevention-policy/.
Could also be a Javascript Conflict triggered by CF7’s input validation javascript.
For both issues see Contact Form 7 Email Issues. Most people that work through this information appear to be able to resolve their email sending & receiving issues.

That is really, really bad practice. You need to keep WP up to date to avoid security issues. Any plugin that is not letting you update should be on your delete list.
Ok. I will do that. Thank you for your help.
