Hello, would love to know if this plugin will be updated to serve Font Awesome 5.0 Pro for license holders?

    Thank you.

Hi all, thanks for the feedback. I would love to add support for Font Awesome Pro, however I’ve actually been considering this as a premium (paid) version of the plugin. I’ve always avoided going the route of commercial plugins, however the maintenance and support required for BFA is enough that I can’t reasonably make enough time for support given my busy work schedule. Just out of curiosity, is this a feature you’d be willing to pay a small yearly fee for? If so, are there other features you’d definitely want to see bundled in a premium version of the plugin? If not, can you tell me more about why you’re opposed? Thanks!

One other thing to note is that Font Awesome 5.0+ is not currently supported via CDN, which is kind’ve the whole point of this plugin (to get the latest over CDN without having to update manually). If you really want to, you could pretty easily just download and manually enqueue the latest version of Font Awesome (https://use.fontawesome.com/releases/v5.0.4/fontawesome-free-5.0.4.zip)

Thanks for the questions and feedback – I really appreciate you letting me know the feature set you’re looking for. Would you mind responding to the more recent thread here? https://wordpress.org/support/topic/font-awesome-5-0-pro-support/

I was finally able to get Font Awesome Pro working with WordPress — especially the FAL (light) icons.

    I documented my steps here:

If you can work up something like this into a plugin it will help!

    Warmest,

    hy mickey,

are you going to switch over to v5 in a future release automatically? for me it would be great to see a switch, where i can choose from the latest v4 or the latest v5 delivered. this would also definitely produce less support work for you when users break their icons when updating 😉

    thanks for your work!

Hi Mickey – I’d pay for Pro support (especially w/SVG support built in). I love how easy you’ve made it for users to insert icons in the Visual editor. Thank you!

That said, I know it’ll be a lot of work especially given Gutenberg coming soon – who knows what that will do to the custom-visual-editor-shortcode-buttons stuff. So maybe do a per-site type fee with a more expensive upgrade for developers like me who use it on all their sites. 🙂

    Hi everyone,

I’m happy to announce that BFA 2-beta is finally ready for testing. Please have a look at the full thread for details.

Also, I’m scheming on an advanced version of the plugin to offer FA 5 pro support (including SVG’s). More to come soon. . .
