Greetings:
Usually it’s best to allow WordPress to set up the folder structure. And you should find you are able to do what you need via the media library front end. Here is additional information: https://codex.wordpress.org/Media_Library_Screen
Good Luck
Thanks Martin
But I find no information on how to use customised folders.
The Tich box ‘Organise my uploads…’ does not seen to make any difference.
There must be a way to use custom folder structures under the media library ?
As far as I know, there rarely is need for any folders within the media library. And like i wrote above WordPress takes care of the /wp-content/uploads/ folder structure all by itself. Think of these upload folders as under or behind the media library. Do you understand the difference?
I am not sure you understand as I have no intention getting involved in the overall folder structure of wordpress, not at all.
When I upload an image or document to the media library then everything goes into one folder. The outcome is that it becomes a huge pile of images and documents which is hard to overlook.
A sub-folder-structure under media library organised by the author in ie. a similar way as the organisation of the website, will help the author a lot in the maintenance of data and this is what I am looking for! Your way of working may be different.
Yes the grid view of the media library is not well organised. Have you tried the other view?, the list view? And then try sorting the list by author?
