Hello, I have been using the UpdraftPlus Plugin for many years and I am backing up to the DropBox, everything works perfectly.
I’m noticing that it generates a folder on my server and this is overloading, how should I proceed so that it does not generate this folder on my server?
Thanks in advance for the technical support.

    Thankful,

    Hi,

Do you mean the updraft folder?

This folder is used to place the backup zips in before they are sent to remote storage.

Could you send us the latest backup log where your having an issue?

    Best Wishes,

    Ashley

    Hello.
Yes, I mean the updraft folder.
I am having problem because this folder is very heavy and overloading the server hosting the site.
How do I disable the creation of this folder?
Below is an image of CPanel from my site.

    Thank you,

    Hi Vanderlei,

    Apologies for the delay.

This folder is required to create the backups before they are uploaded to remote storage.

From your description, it appears that there is an error uploading to Dropbox.

Please could you send us a copy of the latest backup log?
The contents will be too long to post here directly, but you can use an online service such as Pastebin, and post the link here.

Hello, I deactivated the plugin 1 week ago and today 12/6/2018 I reactivated to see if it returned to normal, but the problem persisted.
    The last log message follows:

    “PHP Fatal error (Error) has occurred. Error Message: Call to a member function read() on boolean (Code: 0, line 235 in /home/virtualma/public_html/wp-content/plugins/updraftplus/backup.php) Backtrace: do_action(‘wp_ajax_updraft_ajax’), WP_Hook->do_action, WP_Hook->apply_filters, UpdraftPlus_Admin->updraft_ajax_handler, UpdraftPlus_Commands->backupnow, UpdraftPlus_Admin->request_backupnow, do_action(‘updraft_backupnow_backup_all’), WP_Hook->do_action, WP_Hook->apply_filters, UpdraftPlus->backup_all, UpdraftPlus->boot_backup, UpdraftPlus->backup_resume (dez 06 14:11:06)”

I have used this plugin for many years and have never had problems, I think it’s spectacular.

From now on, I’d like to thank you for the technical support.

    Hi,

It appears that UpdraftPlus is failing to find or generate the backup directory on the site.

Please could you check the ‘Backup directory’ option in the UpdraftPlus expert settings?
What is this set to, and is there an error message displayed?

Hello, I checked the Backup Directory and it is registered as “updraft”, there are no error messages.
Also the text reads: “The specified backup directory is writable, which is fine.”

    Hi,

When you say “the problem” persisted, please can you clarify what that is? My colleague has correctly said that UpdraftPlus creating a folder to use whilst generating a backup is a necessary part of the backup process; it’s not itself a problem. Are you having a problem running a backup and the backup does not succeed? If so, please can you download the backup log file and post a link to it? (e.g. Post it at pastebin.com or somewhere similar).

    David
