Flickr-hosted image as featured image?

    Greetings,
    My personal wordpress site has almost nothing but pictures on it and at last count my media directory was about 2.3 Gb. This is making it increasingly difficult to run backups on my site.

    I’ve been investigating various plugins that will let you embed pictures hosted in other services. I keep all my personal pictures on Flickr and I’ve found a few plugins that will let me embed a Flickr hosted picture in the _body_ of a post or page.

    Problem is, I almost always use themes that make use of featured images. And I have yet to find a theme that will let me use a Flickr hosted image as the featured image of a host.

    Does anyone know if such a plugin exists?

    You could use the Avanced Custom Fields plugin to create a custom field for flickr images. You’d supply the flickr URL of your desired image and then simply add a code snippet to your theme template(s). In fact I saw someone has created an add-on to help with that , it’s called flickrfield.
