flash video player problem

Hello, I hope someone can help. I am running wordpress 2.7.1 and I want to put flv video files on my site. I want it to be embedded on the page (pardon if the terminology is incorrect, but I want to see the player on the site when I post). I got as far as getting the video uploaded on my server.

I installed the flash video plugin, but it does not seem to work. (I don’t know if that because the screen I saw when I put it on said it was tested through version 2.7). What happens when I preview is I get a message saying internet explorer could not open the site.

If I click on the video, I can get it to play for a couple seconds before my browser redirects me to an error site.

So, I don’t know if I just have an incompatable version, and if so, is there something else I can use? Or is there something I can alter.

Oh, and I don’t know…maybe I am not using the right tag… I am using [flashvideo filename=videos/videoname.flv /]
