Flags are pixelated and changing flag size does nothing
-
Hey there,
Nice plugin, only the flags are pixelated when I load our website on my retina screen, and when I try to change from the default 24px ‘Flag size’ option to ’48’ nothing changes. The front-end still looks the same (pixelated), and the backend ‘Widget code’ still pulls from the /gtranslate/24 folder instead of the /gtranslate/flags/48 folder. When I change that code it pulls the 48px flag files but does not fit them into the 24px defined space.
To be clear, I don’t want the flags to appear any bigger (can’t have them take up more space in the menu), I just want them to appear less dull and pixelated (especially striking when contrasted with the beautiful and crisp globe vector image!). Which I assume, would require increasing the pixel density by fitting a 48px image into a 24px space, but I can’t figure out how to make it work seeing as the ‘Flag size’ option does nothing on my installation.
Thanks,

Hi Adam,
I have checked your website and I can see that you are using Globe widget look.
Unfortunately only 24px flags are available for the Globe look. I have made a patch, so the flag size option will not appear when Globe widget look is selected. Thanks for noticing.
I have checked your website with my iPad and PC and was not able to see the flags pixelerated. May be you have zooming in your browser? Make sure to check with 100% zoom.
May be you can post some screenshots?
Thanks!
Hey edo888,
Thanks for taking a look. Here are some screenshots from my 15.4-inch (2880 x 1800) display:
As you can see in the screenshots I’m not zoomed on Chrome.
The Brazilian flag is the most obvious. It’s not a huge deal, but they would be the only pixelated images on our entire website, and the contrast with the crisp globe svg is pretty stark imo.
Cheers,
Adam
Hi Adam,
I do not see anything wrong with the flags with my screen on your screenshot. If you have better quality 24px flags you can replace the current ones.
Thanks!
