• Hello. I’m installing this for the first time on a GoDaddy account and I’m running into mysql issues. First Q; localhost. Do I need to change that to the website name or something? I’m pretty sure that it should be setup as localhost. I changed the utf8 to utf8_unicode_ci to match what GoDaddy is using.

Do I need to provide any other information?

  • “Do I need to provide any other information?” – database name, user name, password need to be specified correctly in the wp-config.php file.

I’ve always been happier with the results of installing WordPress from http://wordpress.org/download/ using the instructions here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress
Than with any web host’s install script, e.g. – Fantastico.

    godaddy does not use ‘localhost’
    they use something similar to
    p50.secureserver.net and others
look in your DB Manager at godaddy for correct info
