Filter widget per category?
-
Hi,
I’m setting up a webshop for musical instruments. And every category has different attributes, and therefore different filters.
For example on the Guitar product overview only filter must be available that refer to Guitars given attritubes. These are not the same filters on the Piano product overview.
A simple solution is to create a unique sidebar widget are per category. But that makes it too difficult to manage with a lot of categories and attributes.
What options do I have to create different sidebar widget filters per category?
Thanks alot!

There is no need. If a filter is not needed in a category, it will be hidden.
Thanks for your quick reply.
Wow, that is pretty convenient. And if you’re on the Category overview page. Does it show all the filters used?
Yes. If an attribute matches, the widget shows.
Ah oke, because I don’t want all the filter widgets shown on the category overview page. Only a list with the categories.
So in this case I’ve got to create 2 shop sidebars:
– A regular Category overview sidebar (static)
– An Product overview (in category) sidebar with filters (dynamic)Is that correct?
I think Jetpack has a module to conditionally show widgets.
Hi Mike,
Superb. Thanks for you replies, I’m good to go again :)!
