If your webhost has cpanel / ensim / vdeck or plesk, there are guides here: http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/
If not, who is your host ?
Yeah, I use cPanel. I’ll read that link, thanks.
Hm… I still can’t seem to get it to work. I’ve uploaded all 153 files:
http://www.silent-designs.com/blog/wp-admin/install.php
I’ve uploaded them to http://www.silent-designs.com/blog/ – but if it’s blog/wp-admin/install.php, wouldn’t I need a folder named “wp-admin”?
Your unzipping of the download has gone wrong in that case.
You’ll need to right-click the zip and make sure that when unzipping it retains the folder structure.
Ah, I’ve got it now, thanks. Though how do I upload that folder to my cPanel File Manager? Or do I actually create it’s own folder and the other folders in cPanel, and then add the correct files to each folder?
I would delete what’s on the server and start over – though keeping the config may be useful 🙂
As for the directory – load all the wp stuff into wherever it’s going to live. You don’t have to name it /wordpress.
Yeah, I’m starting again. However should I make the “wp-admin”, “wp-content-“, etc., folders in the actual folder I’m going to put all the images in, and then put the correct images in their right folders?
Also, if I make a subdomain called “blog”, can I put all the images/folders in the “blog” folder in “Public_HTML”?
No, but I’m confused 🙂
Yes, open public_html, make a folder called ‘blog’
Into a directory called blog, upload these and all the files in them.:
several wp files
/wp-admin/
/wp-includes/
/wp-images/
/wp-content/
then make another folder for any images of yours inside the blog folder.
I’m really sorry for rambling on, however shall I just upload EVERY image into the blog folder? Or should I make these folders:
/wp-admin/
/wp-includes/
/wp-images/
/wp-content/
Inside the blog folder?
Hey, just to let you know I finally figured it out. Thanks very much for the help!
