• Hi,
My FileZilla is not uploading the file:

    ask-roebok.com/blog/wp-includes/js/tinymce/wp-tinymce.js.gz

As a consequence (I presume), various things are not working with my wordpress blog.

For example, under WordPress News and Development Blog I get the message:

WP HTTP Error: Could not open handle for fopen() to http://wordpress.org/development/feed/

Also when I save changes of my Settings, the webpage that opens leaves out my domain and starts with http://blog/

That’s about it, as far as I can see.

Can anyone advise me on this?

    Thanks in advance,

    röebok

  • Are you receiving any error message while uploading that file. I suggest you to contact your hosting provider for this. Sometimes this happens if there is any software installed on the server which scans all file before uploading and preventing the upload.

    Hi,
no I don’t receive a message, the file just goes into the failed upload folder. I will take your advice and follow my hosting provider about this.
Thanks very much for your help!
    Best wishes,

I’m assuming from what you are saying that you have tried this multiple times. I ask because FileZilla will sometimes fail to upload a file if an ftp connection “hangs” during the upload.

So, if you haven’t tried it already, drag and drop the one file to upload it “manually” with FileZilla (you could also requeue the file from the Failed Transfer queue).

Just to be sure it really is a Host issue.

Hi, sorry Kailash1, of do get an error message (obviously), didn’t know what you meant b4. This is it:

Status: Starting upload of C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\Ask Roebok Website\wordpress\wp-includes\js\tinymce\wp-tinymce.js.gz
    Command: PASV
Response: 227 Entering Passive Mode (82,197,131,24,192,97).
    Command: STOR wp-tinymce.js.gz
    Response: 550 wp-tinymce.js.gz: Forbidden filename
    Error: Critical file transfer error

Perhaps you can make something out of this. Perhaps from what you said above, this file type is not accepted by my hosting provider.

Thanks both of you, for your help!

ps. its a big file of 80.093 so I assume its important ie. causing the problems on my blog.

Based on that 550 error message, I would agree — talk to your hosting provider. I just did a little googling and every time this 550 error occurred, it was a web host-enforced restriction.

It is most likely a restriction by your hosting provider on uploads of .gz files.

    Thanks very much.
I’ll do that and hopefully it’ll work.

    All the best,
    rebecca

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I figured it would be better than making a duplicate.

I am having the same problem on my host, but unfortunately there is nothing they can do about it short of me upgrading my plan.

I was wondering if there was any workaround fix for this, is it absolutely necessary? Couldn’t I just extract the .js file from the archive, change a few lines of code, and not have to worry about it?

If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. 🙂

    TIA.

Do you have SSH access to your server?

If so, you could update via command line.
