File Manager

Hi Guys

Have you got any ideas how this might be accomplished please? I would like to use wp as a file manager and archiver. When I have finished with client info it is stored on my server where it duly gets backed up regularly. However, what I would like to do is to use my websites server. Much more secure and backed up even more than I do! Plus I can still download and back-up as I wish.

FTP is no problem – so I can simply place the files on the server. However, what I would like to do is to make a post that links to those files and password protect that post. I will then have an instant link to all the files associated with a client. No thumbnails or anything fancy like that and I will have to use ftp.

Two issues I can see. Firstly, it would be nice for a plugin to do the job of uploading (took a look at LMB Filepress but its not ready for 2+) and secondly will the files be secure. Maybe I have posted this to the wrong forum area but I wonder whether anybody has an idea for a plugin that will work and whether they have ideas to secure the files?

P.S. Just adding a ps – maybe storing the files in the database would be good.
