  • Sounds like either you have a plugin that is checking the files or your host has some software checking the files. Both are an attempt to aleart you that your site might be comprimised.

    Where are you seeing the messages? Fronted? backend? in an email?

    While there may be other plugins that generate a similar message, that message – verbatim – is a characteristic of security features present in this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/better-wp-security/

    Any update to (or installation of) a plugin, theme or core files, or a simple change in .htaccess initiated by you could potentially trigger the notification. See the FAQ and Usage docs for the plugin – assuming, of course that’s the one you’re using.

    [edit] yep’.. that’s probably the source of the message. I can see version 5.0.1 in your plugins directory.
