  • Hello WP forum members –

I launched a redesigned version of website last Thursday. Hosting was moved from Yahoo to GoDaddy and went without a hitch – although i did lose some optimization (that was expected) with a fresh design.

It’s built on WP with the Blackbird (free) theme. I did it myself and admittedly, don’t write code for a living – so there are probably a multitude of glaring errors and rookie mistakes.

Goals are function, aesthetics, optimization and a blog launch for content (immediately if not sooner) and to add more quality images. The image on the home page is terrible.

Plans for this site are to have it be a ‘living breathing’ project that keeps getting better over time – that promotes my business and be a source of relevant, valuable info for others.

Thank you in advance for comments and suggestions. If there is a book you recommend to or a specific forum, please feel free to do so. I want to learn.

    Best regards,

  • Congrats on the successful redesesign and move Val-erie!

I really dig your design. That’s a great theme. I would suggest adding your site’s name (your name) in the upper left. If you could “logo-ize” it, even better. I suggest this for a few reasons…
    – It’s standard practice to do so. I actually waited for a few seconds for something to load. Which it didn’t.
    – It’s typically the first thing the viewer sees (as most people look up+left first and then down to content)
    – When a viewer gets into the site it’s a quick and easy click to get back home.

Keep up the great work and Happy WPing!

Your up left header image is not working.

I would also remove one of the search boxes as you now have duplicats.

The colors and the fonts are great, but I would be able to give better critique when the header image is up and running.
