Featured Image won’t set

Recently we’ve discovered that the main featured image fails to set.

I’m using Avada.

I run through the process, ‘set featured image’, select an image and then get dumped back on the page without the featured image selecting. Strangely I can select an image for the second, third etc featured images.

If I use the slightly different mechanism for selecting featured images 2, and then use the selected image as the main featured image, it places the featured image in it’s usual spot on the edit page ( right hand column at the top of the image boxes) but it doesn’t act like the main ‘featured image’.

For example, if I’d set the image up as a gallery item, the image would be missing when I viewed the website.

I can’t update to the latest version of wordpress due to server setup, but I’m wondering if it’s an issue with wordpress rather than the Avada theme, or the database. I’ve actually tried an early, pre problem of the database and I’m still getting the same issue.

Any thoughts guys?

Have you tried:

– deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

– switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

– resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

– re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

If the theme is the issue, you will need to seek support from the theme’s developer/vendor. We do not have access to, nor do we support, commercial products here. Your best bet is always your product’s developer, so we encourage you to use the official support venues, as it allows the developers to be aware of issues with their code and gives back to the community in a more robust way.

Deactivate all the plugins and set the permission for wp-contant folder (allow write , read and edit). Use the perfect image ratio 🙂

Thanks Guys, deactivated all plugins cured it, then just a case of pinning down the culprit by activating and testing.

I have this same issue however deactivating all plugins, changing permissions etc will not fix it. My problem is the blue set image button will not activate once the blue button has been clicked. Reverting back from 4.8 to 4.7 wont help. Tried other themes no help. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Everything works perfect right up until you click the blue button. This worked fine for months only today stopped working. Have run out of ideas.

Do y’all use the plugin “Leadmagic”? I had this same problem and followed the aadvise provided here and Leadmagic was/is the culprit. Not sure why, yet, but I will figure that out when I ask them to look into this.
