A Featured Image seems to be more oriented to POST’s rather than Pages, is that correct?

When dealing with PAGES what is the difference between a FEATURED IMAGE Block and an IMAGE Block

For a page if you insert a FEATURED IMAGE block and insert an image on a page with “image1: and on another page insert a FEATURED IMAGE “image2” they can be different for each page

The only reason I can think of to have a “Featured Image: rather than and “Image” block on a Page is to heave a page on a Search of the WEB Site and the results of the search have a Image

The difference is largely theme dependent. Designating an image as featured essentially marks the image for your theme or plugins that the image is more important than other images on the page. Themes and plugins can more easily identify featured images over other images on the post or page. Beyond that, what is done with the information is up to your theme or plugin.

You point out a classic example of featured image usage. On archive listings or search results, many themes will show a featured image thumbnail with each item. Lacking a featured image, no image will be displayed at all, regardless of how many other images are on that post or page.

Your reasoning is correct and highlights where the featured image becomes important. As part of a template or query the featured image can pull in dynamically based on the page without the need to manually apply the same type of formatting you would need to use an image instead.

Think of it like the page title or excerpt – you could use a heading and paragraph in place of these but it adds a lot of flexibility when used as part of a standard template or format
