I’m evaluating Subscribe To Comments Reloaded version 1.6. It seems that users can only subscribe to particular individual posts, on a one-by-one basis. My web site makes use of categories to group related articles together. A useful feature would be for users to be able to be notified whenever a new article (and/or comment thereon) with a certain category is posted.

In other words, a taxonomy based subscription system would make a useful new feature to the plug-in. Users could subscribe to new posts and/or new comments based on their selected taxonomies (categories, tags, authors, etc) of interest.

And how about “subscribe to all posts” and “subscribe to all comments” options?

Please forgive me if this is beyond the scope of this plug-in.

  • Hi there,

I guess there’s some confusion about the purpose of mu plugin. As its name says, it helps visitors to subscribe to a post and receive a notification every time a new COMMENT (not POST) is added to it. What you’re looking for is this plugin

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/subscribe2/

Version 2.0, which I should be able to release soon, will include the ability to EXCLUDE specific posts, so that users won’t be offered the option to subscribe to those.

The idea to subscribe to an entire category (or the entire blog) seems interesting, I’ll think about it.

    Cheers!

Thanks Camu, I suspected that was the case. Thanks for the advice on Subscribe2. I’ll probably end up combining the two plug-ins, if possible.

Sure 🙂 A vote for my plugin would be a nice way to thank me 😉
