I see what you mean, but I don’t see the use to find comments and have them become topics/replies. Would you have any practical examples ?

For sure, as happened just recently, as well as in the past… All my pages are comment enabled, as well as posts, to inspire conversation in multiple and various ways…
A comment on a page had been made, and then a followup comment, and then a lively back and forth promising to go on for a while, and not leave any space or incentive for more and different conversation to come out of that page in the future…
By moving the comments to a related forum and leaving a link to where they were moved to, and with the initiating comment as the new topic and the following ones as replies, I was able to move the ongoing conversation to the forum, where it continues in an inviting and easy way for others to join….
Thing is, to do that I had to manually copy and paste each individual comment in the right order to a new topic and replies in the forum, and then delete them from the page…
There is some strong indication on our site that this need to move comments to the forum is only going to grow over time…
OK, I will take it on board, but no timeframe for it.
I see 2 use cases:
1. A complete export of bbPress posts and comments and import in a forum because you want to switch towards a forum;
2. A keymaster/admin or moderator/editor sees that there are (too many) comments on a post and wants to continue the discussion on a forum.
For 1. : Let’s forget that one for now
For 2. . That’s where I want to focus on.
The flow (just the headlines):
– Mark a post (with comments) to become a topic
– Duplicate the post into a topic
– Transforms all comments into replies to the topic
– Remove all comments and create 1 new comment with a link to the forum
Anything else ?

The flow headlines you describe for 2 is perfect…
If it wanted to be refined a bit more perhaps the option to choose between the first comment and the post itself as the topic with the rest as replies… And if the post as topic, then the option for it to be an excerpt or not…
And recognizing that that could be to much to try to include, Just what you describe would be soooooooo amazingly great…

An option for the excerpt seems a good idea. I will also add a link back to the orginal post.

This plugin , I think will be a must for all those who would bind their articles and comments with the forum .
Extends a future news site video games , I’m really admirable and this feature will be the missing element for me to finalize my website.
