Received an email from WordPress that there’s been a fatal error on site. Logged in and saw a message: “There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums.”

In the email there was a special recovery mode link which didn’t work.

Apparently the issue is with Tagembed Social Feeds Widget (version 7.3) plugin. I logged into the site to try to uninstall it but it won’t let me to that page. I only see the error message.

    Can you please help?

    Thank you in advance!

  • Hi @marijanova,

Have you enabled WordPress Debug Mode? It will help us to track the specific error you are getting. Please refer to this documentation URL for more details: https://developer.wordpress.org/advanced-administration/debug/debug-wordpress/#example-wp-config-php-for-debugging

Please try to access the site files via FTP after a full site backup. Then visit the wp-content/plugins folder and rename the folder for the *Tagembed Social Feeds Widget* plugin.

After that, visit your site’s backend and make sure the bug exists. Renaming the folder name will help to deactivate the plugin.

    Hey @marijanova ,

@mbigul’s right about renaming the folder – that usually kills the error immediately so you can get back in.

If you don’t use FTP, you can also do this through your hosting account’s “File Manager.” Just look for the wp-content/plugins folder and add “-old” to the end of the Tagembed folder name.

Once you’re back in the dashboard, the plugin will show as deactivated. Then you can safely delete it or try a clean reinstall. If the error stays after renaming, it might have cached the crash, so you’ll want to clear any server-side cache if you have it.

Hope you get it sorted quick 🙏
