I’m unable to access my website at all, nor the WordPress backend. I was trying out new themes, and I now get this error message:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: add_theme_support() in /home/www/mediarchive/wordpress/wp-content/themes/default/functions.php on line 9

I’m able to access my files by FTP, but am a PHP novice. I’m not sure what I did wrong, and what do I do now? If I could even export all my stuff, I’d considering switching over to WordPress.com, since it seems more goof-proof. Help!

  • Rename your New theme’s directory and it will go back to the default theme. Your error looks like its using the default (Twentyten) theme and if that is the case, upload a fresh copy of the them.

You could also try renaming the plugins directory and create a new empty one with same permissions.

Rename the theme that did not work gave you error some other name so that wordpress forces twentyten to open.
