• Couldn’t log in but could see site: warning.

Did the manual upgrade and disabled plugins, now I get:

Warning: require(/home/athingfo/public_html/wp-includes/classes.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/athingfo/public_html/wp-settings.php on line 68

Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘/home/athingfo/public_html/wp-includes/classes.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/athingfo/public_html/wp-settings.php on line 68

Tried to get classes.php from previous version but can’t locate it and don’t know what to do. Help please?

  • Your upgrade did not complete successfully.

    Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

    – re-running the upgrade manually using wp-admin/upgrade.php.

    rename the folder to what?

Try adding -old to the end of your current theme’s folder name.

Still having problems. Did all above but still getting:

Warning: require(/home/athingfo/public_html/wp-includes/classes.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/athingfo/public_html/wp-settings.php on line 68

Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘/home/athingfo/public_html/wp-includes/classes.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/athingfo/public_html/wp-settings.php on line 68

    Hi sires6/esmi,

I am having virtually the same problem as specified here after trying to automatically and then manually upgrade to 3.1.2. Did you ever find a fix for this? Thank you.

I finally had to have someone come and help me. It was a mess. Basically they started from a clean install and then moved all the appropriate files over to the new install.

    Hope this helps.
