Fatal Error — Call to Undefined Function

    Help! I am considering switching themes, so I installed the free theme Biography. I got a big error message when I try to activate it — Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_script_add_data() in /home3/erosenzw/public_html/wp-content/themes/biography/functions.php on line 164

    Can someone help me decode what this means / figure out how to solve it?

    Try deleting or renaming the the folder of this theme using FTP , or your web-host’s cPanel or whatever file management application your host provides (no Dashboard access required).

    I deleted it from my cpanel on hostgator, then logged in again to wp-admin and re-installed. When I tried to live-preview, now I get the error message:

    Fatal error: Call to undefined method WP_Customize_Manager::add_panel() in /home3/erosenzw/public_html/wp-content/themes/biography/inc/customizer/customizer.php on line 77

    Obviously, it’s conflicting with some other things (plugins, etc.).
