The plugin caused a fatal error & rendered my backend inaccessible. I couldn’t even disable the plugin until I used the Jetpack Android app to do so.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

i did nothing unless the plugin updated yesterday and autoupdated . Here is the fatal error msg I received:

"WordPress has a built-in feature that detects when a plugin or theme causes a fatal error on your site, and notifies you with this automated email.

In this case, WordPress caught an error with one of your plugins, Metricool - Social media and site statistics.

First, visit your website (https://www.richardsilverstein.com/) and check for any visible issues. Next, visit the page where the error was caught (https://www.richardsilverstein.com/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php) and check for any visible issues.

Please contact your host for assistance with investigating this issue further.

If your site appears broken and you can't access your dashboard normally, WordPress now has a special "recovery mode". This lets you safely login to your dashboard and investigate further.

To keep your site safe, this link will expire in 1 day. Don't worry about that, though: a new link will be emailed to you if the error occurs again after it expires.

When seeking help with this issue, you may be asked for some of the following information:
    WordPress version 7.1.3
Active theme: General News (version 2.1.8)
Current plugin: Metricool - Social media and site statistics (version 2.1.1)
    PHP version 8.3.35

    Hi @richards1052

Thanks for providing the error details. We’ve discussed this further with our development team, and it looks like the error may have occurred during the automatic update of Metricool.
Could you please check WordPress → Plugins → Installed Plugins and let us know which version of Metricool is currently installed?

    • If it already shows 2.1.1, just let us know.
    • If it still shows 2.1.0, could you please update Metricool manually from that Plugins page using the Update now button and let us know if the update completes successfully? This will help us determine whether the issue was specific to the automatic update process.

    Kind regards, Mark

    v. 2.1.1

I have it set to autoupdate. Should I disable that & update manually? Can I reactivate the plugin now?

    Hi @richards1052,

My apologies for the late reply. I’ve been discussing this internally with our development team, and they need some more time to investigate the issue before we can safely advise you to reactivate the plugin.

For now, I would recommend keeping the plugin deactivated and leaving the update settings as they are. Our development team is actively looking into this, and we’ll provide further instructions once we know more.

Sorry again for the delay, and thank you for your patience while we investigate this further.

    Kind regards, Mark
