I was adding some code to my functions.php and I got this fatal error and now I can’t log back into my site to try and fix anything even if I knew how to. Any help on how to fix this?

Fatal error: Call to undefined function addaction() in /home/content/p3pnexwpnas06_data02/42/2407342/html/wp-content/themes/virtue_premium/functions.php on line 54

If you can use FTP, remove what you edited in your functions file, your site should go back online. I hope you are using a child-theme and not editing the theme files.

I can’t get into the site to edit anything. Not sure what to do. Don’t know where to get to the FTP — I did create a child-theme over the weekend but I’m not sure that it is working.

Do you have an FTP program? or do you have cpanel on your host?

I’m not sure. I’m really a novice at this and should probably not be doing this. I went into the editor on my site to get to the FTP to add some code. That’s what caused the error.

Did you edit the functions.php file in the child theme folder or in the theme?

So you used the internal editor in WP to make the change?

I’m not sure but I may have been in the theme folder – I used the internal editor in WP to make the change

    3 questions:

1: Did you activate your child-theme?
2: Do you know how to use FTP?
3: Who is your hosting company?

I need to leave for now, hopefully someone can take over and get you back online. I will check back later.

I thought I activated the child-them; I don’t have a clue how to use FTP; my hosting company is GoDaddy and I’m checking with them now. Thanks for trying to help me.

I am back for a few minutes. Godaddy is good. That means you should have CPanel. You can use the file manager in CPanel. What theme were you using?

GoDaddy got me back into the site. I am currently using the child theme and most of my changes are there however the error is in the Virtue Premium Theme where I was trying to make the changes

Not sure about the CPanel thing – I can’t activate the theme or it give me the fatal area and I don’t know how to get into it to fix -it. I added a code that I found online to add the “continue shopping” to my site – it didn’t like the code and when I deleted what I thought I had added that’s when the sytem went down.

Some other help has arrived, I will check back later. Gotta make a living.
