My primary FAQ pages uses the shortcode [ultimate-faq-search show_on_load=”Yes”]. I set the “FAQ Category Toggle” option to only display the category name. When you click on a category name, it reveals the individual FAQs for that category.

However, there are many individual FAQs that are not being displayed within their collapsed category. These individual FAQs are just displaying automatically.

Is there another setting I need to adjust to ensure that all individual FAQs are inside collapsed categories by default?

    Thanks!

    Colin

  • Hi alleytree,

In order to display an Faq inside/under a category you have to set the category attribute of that Faq(i.e you need to assign that faq a category). Could you please share a link to your FAQ page so we could take a look, as we aren’t experiencing the same issue on our test server.

    Hi there,

Thanks for the quick reply. Here’s a link to the FAQs on our test site – http://spcabc.thedevsite.ca/i-need-help-with/

As you can see, these questions have been assigned to and appear within categories. However, some of the FAQs are being duplicated outside of the top level category.

Just let me know if there’s anything else I can do to help troubleshoot this situation.

    Thanks,

    Colin

    Hi Colin,

    1) Aside from the [ultimate-faq-search show_on_load=”Yes”] shortcode, do you have any other content on this page (e.g. other shortcodes..etc)?

    2) What categories does “How do I become a cruelty investigator?” belong to? (I’m using this FAQ as an example because it’s one of the FAQs that appears multiple times on the page)

    3) If you go to Settings->Basic-> and scroll down to “Hide Categories” and “Hide Tags”, are they set as Yes? If not, try setting them to Yes and let us know if that changes anything.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for the follow up.

    1) The only other shortcode that is embedded on some FAQs are for Reusable Text Blocks – https://wordpress.org/plugins/reusable-text-blocks/
    2) “How do I become a cruelty investigator?” belongs to 3 categories.
    3) These were both set to “No”. I set them both to “Yes” and there are no more duplicates. However, the client had preferred for these FAQs to be opened by default.

Thanks and just let me know if there’s any other info I can provide to help.

The client ended up solving this for themselves. There was a bad link in one of the FAQs that somehow broke the functionality for all FAQs that followed.

    I appreciate the help!

    Best,
