I have tried several times to install WP using Fantastico but I come up with these two errors:

Warning: file(/usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf): failed to open stream: Permission denied in

    /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/fantastico/includes/enc_check.inc.php on line 225

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in

    /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/fantastico/includes/enc_check.inc.php on line 226

Then if I go anhead and choose install it says this:
Warning: mkdir(/blog): Permission denied in /tmp/cpanel_phpengine.1124593618.125863946.5537395245 on line 1210

    1) File: /blog/wp-config.php [ERROR! ]
    2) File: /blog/data.sql [ERROR! ]

Can you PLEASE help! I’m pulling my hair out!
    Thanks!

  • While Fantastico is, well, fantastic for one-click installs, I have noticed that lately it seems to muck up the .htaccess file quite a bit.

Sounds like your web host may be doing some things behind the scenes with Fantastico and/or PHP or lord knows what all.

But if you have FTP access, I suggest you do this from scratch. It it very easy, rest assured. You just need to go into your cPanel and create your MySQL database and database user, and don’t forget to ADD THE USER to the newly created database. Then edit the wp-config.php.sample file in your favorite text editor (notepad will do); you’ll see where you need to put the database values. Save it as wp-config.php and then upload all, point your browser to the installation script and you are on your way.

Thanks for your feedback! I went ahead and tried to do that and now this is what I get when I try to run it:

    Can’t select database
We were able to connect to the database server (which means your username and password is okay) but not able to select the blog database.

I added the database in cPanel and I even checked it to make sure. I tried adding my user name like they suggested, but that didn’t work. Any idea of what could be wrong now?
