Hi Jonathan,
I would be happy to help.
Can you please temporarily deactivate the Gutenberg Build Block Library to see if that’ll help? You may want to search for a setting that would deactivate or restrict its lightbox.
Looks like it globally inserts its own lightbox for NextGen images.
Hope this helps,
Mihai
Thanks, I did it but it didn’t help.
For info my theme is Rock N Rolla. Maybe that’s coming from here? note that I can’t disable it.

Can you please try to temporarily deactivate all the plugins excepting NextGen, switch to a generic theme like Twenty Seventeen and check again in order to see if that changes anything then activate the plugins one by one to retrace the issue?
Hope this helps,
Mihai
I have disabled everything exepting the theme and I have also turned modpagespeed off by accessing:
https://www.rock4life.be/photos-rock/?ModPagespeed=unplugged
Now I see some 404 related to some stuffs related to prettyphoto from the theme.

Hey @jonathanr79,
Thank you for checking the plugins. Hmm, you mentioned your theme – let’s try temporarily switching to a WordPress default theme. It very well could be your theme causing the double fancybox. Give that a try and let us know if you notice any change.
Thank you! 🙂
Becky
I confirm this is the theme. Please, any idea how I can make the theme work with your plugin?

The only solution I can think of (without knowledge of the inner workings of the theme you’re using) is to search for a lightbox setting within the theme options. If there is a setting for a lightbox effect, disable it and that should clear the issue 🙂
