• Hi,

I have a relatively new WordPress site here: www.http://electrophile888.me/

I am trying to upgrade the WordPress software using the automatic installer, but it is throwing me this error:

    Downloading update from https://downloads.wordpress.org/release/wordpress-4.1-new-bundled.zip…

    Unpacking the update…

    Could not copy file.: wordpress/wp-includes/js/tinymce/plugins/wpdialogs/plugin.min.js

    Installation Failed

I thought maybe it could be a problem with the permissions on my server. Can anyone help?

  • I think you are right and should see who the owner of that folder is and what the permissions are set to.

What do the permissions need to be set to, and on which folders?

try MANUAL updating. Download a fresh copy of the WordPress .zip file to your computer, unzip it, and use that to copy up all files and folders EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory. You may need to delete the old copies of files & folder on your server before uploading the new ones. Read the Manual Update directions first.
If you haven’t already done, always backup everything (including your database) before doing any actions, just in case something really goes wrong.
