Facebook Sharing Errors

    Halfway through the day yesterday with no changes to my configuration, Facebook started returning links with “Checking search engine crawler” instead of the post image and link.

    I have attempted disconnecting and reconnecting with Facebook. Running their social debugger simply says “URL returned a bad HTTP response code.”. saying it could be due to a robots.txt block and to allowlist facebookexternalhit on your sites robots.txt config to utilize Facebook scraping. However, I do not have that bot blocked.

    Because I also have Cloudflare’s Platform Optimization subscription, your support bot told me to whitelist it through there which I did. Yet that too did not resolve the issue. When googling “Checking Search Engine Crawler” I see a number of other WordPress based site spitting out that error on Facebook in the past 24 hours, which makes me believe this is either a Jetpack Social and Cloudflare conflict that is beyond my personal scope to resolve.
